Applying to the Program

Our Postbaccalaureate Prehealth Studies Program invites students of all backgrounds and experiences to pursue a career in the health professions. By giving students an opportunity to satisfy the necessary science prerequisite courses, students that complete our program will be eligible to apply to graduate schools for the health professions, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or an allied health field.

Our rich Postbacc community is comprised of students of all ages and backgrounds. Students in the program receive guidance and support from our Preprofessional Advising Staff and distinguished faculty, who are known for their accessibility and student-centered teaching.

Applicants to our program are career changers, whom have at least a 3.0 undergraduate GPA and have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. When reviewing applications, we consider all aspects, including the applicant’s academic record, professional goals, past experiences, and letter of recommendation. Successful applicants have clearly communicated their intentions and demonstrated efforts toward pursuing a career in the health professions.

Ninety percent (90%) of postbacc students that complete our program with a 3.6 GPA and receive a score of 32 on their MCAT exam are accepted into medical school (this information is not yet available for the 2015 MCAT). As a whole, our students are very successful in their postbacc studies, and are admitted to such prestigious medical schools as Yale, Columbia, Cornell, Pittsburgh, SUNY, Mount Sinai, and Albert Einstein.
